posting

At the moment I'm struggling with a cold and for some reason I cannot pull me mind together to get photos up. I have maternity photos, engagement photos and a few personal projects to post.
Somedays I just need to take a personal day, and I guess this is my personal day.

More great photos of amazing people to come.

Fall is in the air

I had a lovely afternoon with a farmer from Windsor, NS. If you ever get the chance to head to Windsor for the day I recommend that you go visit Victor Olten and his wife Nova Dawn, as well as the rest of the family.

Now, this is not just a farm, this is a real farm! Theres ducks, chickens, turkeys, beef cows, sheep, emus, almost anything that you can think of, it's there. They also have pumpkins, apples, and a great meat shop.

So take a trip to Windsor and have a visit.
If you're going from Halifaxs heres the directions:
Head towards Windsor.Take Exit 5. turn left off the off ramp. Continue down this road for about 5-8 minutes. Turn left onto Chester Rd. Continue down this road for about 4 minutes and on the left hand you'll see lovely hilly fields. There's a sign at the bottom of the drive that says " Mike Oltens Quality Meats" You are finally there.

If you need a house number, just give me a call or email and I'll gladly give you it. I just don't have the number with me at the moment, it's in the car from last night.

Enjoy!

Professional Photographer

Being a professional photographer is great. I love when clients return to me to get more photos taken, to be able to see their children grown, or even watch a relationship blossom. I love when clients pass my name onto friends and family and I get to capture a wedding or a maternity shoot that will soon turn into a newborn shoot.

To me, it's not about the money, it's about getting to know my clients, getting clients to trust me, getting laughs, smiles, giggles, maybe even tears from laughter. It's about having people bond right infront of my lens, so that I capture it.

I want to be able to feel what that person is feeling from within a photograph. It's about capturing beautiful moments as they happen. It's about touching and tugging on those heart strings just a bit.

I love what I do for a living, because I don't ever go to work and that's the best part about doing something that I love for a living. I can sit infront of my computer and edit wedding photos, maternity photos, family photos, and pet photos for hours and hours and not want to move. I love giving love to each and even photo that I capture, edit and send to my client.

I have been in the professional world for the past year, and before that I have taken schooling for what I want in life. Photography. That's what I have been studying for the past three years, and as of June 2010, I will walk across that stage to be handed my certificate. I can't wait. That's right I'm a full time photography student AND a full time photographer and love every minute of it.

I enjoy what I do for a living, I enjoy the people that I meet, the clients that respect me and my work. My work is an art, it's not just about pointing a camera at two people and clicking of a button. There's alot that goes into photography. From the right lighting situation, to the correct aperture to use, to the way you want the photograph to turn out. Our work is an art. Our passion. Our fire that drives us to capture more. It's our life. We professional photographers love what we do, we seek the beauty in everything.

2010 Wedding Bookings

I've very happy to say that I am starting to fill my schedule with 2010 wedding bookings.

I love meeting new people especially when it's to take their wedding photography, or when it's to take photos of their children, pets, or whatever they are in need of.

Weddings are a time of magic, love, and endless romance. Weddings are about pronouncing your love to that one person that has been through thick and thin and willing to be there no matter what.

It's great to be behind my camera lens, to be able to capture all those special moments at someones wedding. The most rewarding part of doing a wedding is being there for the bride and groom, to be able to capture every special moment.
It's also rewarding after a job well done, after the wedding has taken place, the honeymoon was magical and the couple comes back and their wedding day photographs are ready for them. The look in their eyes when they see all the moments that you have captures for them, is all I need. That look in their eyes tells me everything.

Congratulations on taking the next big step in both your lives.

Jennifer and Kyle Bischke

Meet Jennifer and Kyle Bischke..

This couple traveled from Lethbridge Alberta, to get married in Mahone Bay Nova Scotia on June 21st 2009.

I was very happy when Jennifer contacted me to be the photographer for their June wedding. With finding me online, she did not know me, she didn't know if I was any good at photography, but she took that leap of faith and took me aboard as their photographer.

Their wedding day was beautiful, with loved ones all around. Smiles were from ear to ear and you could hear laughter all around the B&B where they were staying.
Their family was very welcoming with someone that they had never meat before. Kyle told us to "Sit..sit..grab a beer..have some food!"

I cannot wait for my next wedding. I cannot wait watch all the magic unroll and I cannot wait to capture more precious moments between two people that love one another.

I thank Jennifer and Kyle for opening their beautiful lives to Cliff and I.

Summer

It's been awhile since my last post. This summer has been quite busy with summer photoshoots, a few weddings thrown in here and there as well as trips to Cape Breton.

June and July started off slow and the weather wasn't all that great but man o man is August beautiful. The evenings are beautiful for engagement photos as well as family, pet or just plain personal stuff.

The light in the summer is amazing, it hits your subject so beautifully and it just sparkles and bounces off the ocean.

More to come later..Posting of some past weddings to follow..
